Towards the Railway Platform..

Let us go to the railway platform

on an empty stomach

Push each other for space

Check our mails with a pounding headache

that no aspirin would cure

Walk with exasperation

to take part in the never-ending meetings

Come back half-dead

Check the unemployment rates

and finally

Go back to the platform

on an empty stomach

(Meet a couple with different mindsets)

The train moves at an alarming speed

and halts reluctantly at a suburb

where nobody waits

except a couple

She looks forlorn,

unashamed tears flowing free

He looks expectant,

not even pretending to listen,

trying to pull his hand away,

desperate to escape the quiet suburb

to the land of opportunities

He boards, hardly looking back

while she stands there

left behind in the race of life

and that of love

To Their Own Thoughts!

The streets, the shops and the intersection are alive with busy people. Everyone seemingly occupied, but lonely in their own thoughts. The young woman in the Metro looks enviously at the poster of a model. She is oblivious to the sultry thoughts of a School boy who has once again failed to do his homework. Teenagers doing odd things to get themselves noticed while the conservative woman shies behind her veil not wanting to be noticed. The old sit by a corner, eager for conversation. They smile at fellow travellers, hoping to be acknowledged. They are looking for their past in the present.

There is also a writer, gaping at everyone, thus trying to understand their motives and emotions. Once in a while he gets it right while missing the obvious most of the times.
