“Mom! I don’t have want to have tattoos.”
“Listen, Sherry. It has been a norm in the country for so many years.”
“But, Mom…”
“Thirty years ago, we fought with our parents to get tattoos. It became a symbol of teenage independence in 2020. All teenagers have sported tattoos since then.”
“But, Mom, this is 2050. Human body is considered precious and pure now. I don’t want to spoil it with tattoos. It is so uncool.”
Seventeen-year old Sherry walked away in a huff. Her mother did not understand anything anymore. It looked like the fashion of bygone days was making a comeback.
This was written for Ermilia’s Picture it & Write.
Brilliant. I like this
Thank you, Alastair. Some light-hearted stuff:) wanted to write a poem, but couldn’t think of any. Glad you like it
Such a funny and true sentiment, written wonderfully of course as you always do.
Sincerely
Benjamin
Hi Benjamin, Happy you liked it and glad you visited again. Thank you
I like that idea. Fashions and trends are all cyclical. How rebellious, refusing to get a tattoo!
Yes, they are cyclical and I am sure this is going to happen some day:)) Thank you kindly for the comment
ha ha haaaa !,whats going on with your mind? i love both the tattoo and this fine piece of poetry
Just a thought:) Thank you very much for visiting
I think and feel that human body is precious and pure. Tattoo spoils the beauty of human body.
It is really a matter of opinion. Thank you for commenting, Yoshiko
Welcome, Padmini

Lol. At least, this takes place only in imagination:) Thank you
🙂 It’s so true that each generation seeks its identity based on what the generation before was not and that often leads us in cycles. A quote from one of my stories: “The most surefire way to accomplish something is to tell a child not to do it.” I’m sure the opposite might have a ring of truth too.
You are absolutely right:) Their curiosity tends to increase if you tell them not to do something:) Thank you, Anne:)
loved it 🙂
Thank you very much, Sharmishtha. Appreciate your spending so much time on my blog today and for all the encouraging comments. Have a good day:)
